On November 24, 2014, Smartmatic CEO Antonio Mugica and Mark Malloch-Brown announce the formation of a new venture, SGO, with Malloch-Brown, Nigel Knowles, and David Giampaolo joining Mugica and Smartmatic COO and co-founder Roger Piñate to the board.

Malloch-Brown, a former member of the British Labour Party and Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, highlighted the assets of Smartmatic and the reasons why he is joining the team.

Malloch-Brown was a member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum.

SGO is an umbrella company for Smartmatic and startup tech ventures.
